Closing The Bones

Closing of The Bones begins with wrapping the head with a rebozo

honouring the body’s journey

“Closing of the bones” was taught to me by my teacher Rachel who learned it from traditional Mexican midwives. It is a practice that is deeply rooted in rites of passage, honouring the transition from one chapter to the next. In the sense of midwifery, it is the woman’s path of ushering in new life, or in some cases honoring the loss of a pregnancy/baby. It is a practice that can be experienced by anyone going through transitions or shifts in their life, and a beautiful way to bare witness to the transition. On a physical level, it is very comforting and grounding, and the cloths (rebozos) are used to tightly bind the body from head to toe. Energetically, we set the intention of closing off a chapter of our life that we feel ready to move out of, making space for the new. Only you know what that entails - we create space to explore that in ceremony.

It takes 2.5 hours for a full closing, including the ceremony, cacao, snacks and deep rest afterwards. The cost is £160, and takes place at my home studio in Linlithgow. If you prefer I come to your home, an additional cost can be added for travel time and fuel. Use the contact form below to find out more, or to book in a date that suits is both.
